Located in historic Fort Seward, these Victorian structures were originally the Commanding Officers Quarters & are now a National Historic Landmark. Most rooms offer private baths, some w/ the original Belgian tile fireplaces. Haines only full service hotel offering 60 rooms. For our guests* safety, the hotel features a modern fire sprinkler system. Prepare for a feast. The locally brewed beers & the extensive wine list are designed to complement the entrees. All units are non-smoking. The 14-guest room log style inn, constructed w/ 287 hand hewn logs on 97 acres. Guests are often treated to visits of moose, bears & other wildlife through the three stories of windows facing the mountains & Icy Strait. Activities can include kayaking w/ whales, bear viewing, Skagway train trip, glacier & whale watching. Nestled on the edge of a vast wilderness, secluded, yet accessible by commuter planes & Alaska Airlines, the majestic Bear Track Inn is all inclusive. Bikes are available for our visitors. All meals, & transportation to activities booked w/ us are part of the all-inclusive package. Walk through the 8-foot hand-crafted door into the lobby w/ a 30 foot vaulted ceiling, & a huge walk around wood burning fireplace. Two of our rooms are handicapped accessible. Included w/ these can be seafood soups, homemade breads, & salads w/ freshly made dressings. You tell us what you want & we will make it happen. Morning Meal greets you w/ a new feast- you choose from waffles, eggs & omelets made to order along w/ fresh pastries topped w/ fresh Alaskan jams, jellies, & berries. Please check-in at the front desk to see if room is ready. Some of our most well known visitors at the Bear Track Inn includes a former Governor of Alaska & his cabinet, world famous actors, honeymooners, & travellers seeking the experience of a lifetime. Choose from fresh Alaska salmon, Alaskan Spotted Prawns, Excursion Halibut, Dungeness Crab, buffalo, caribou, steak, or even vegetarian plates w/ ingredients grown on the property. No after hours check-in is available.
