Captain Daniel Stone became a successful merchant after he retired from the U.S Navy in the early 1800s. Narcissa passed away at the age of 76, in 1877, after having led a full life & becoming an important part of Brunswicks history. He & his wife, Nancy Hinckley, had 2 children, Narcissa & Daniel. She held on to her inheritance tenaciously, improving the land & developing close property. A summer theatre, 2 museums, 2 excellent libraries, a lot of good eating establishments, & its classic New England architecture complete its charming ambiance. Brunswick has earned its reputation for good living over its 300 year history. The Stone Family Estate, on which the Inn now stands, was known as Narcissas Hill to the townspeople for the better part of the 19th century. Brunswick is just a 15 minute drive North of the famous town of Freeport, Maine, which is known for its a lot of factory outlet stores & L.L Bean. Miss Narcissa Stone became a prominent figure in the community after she inherited considerable land & property from her father upon his death in 1825. This coastal town has been home of the prestigious liberal arts school, Bowdoin College, since 1794 & is host to Brunswick Naval Air Station, which was first commissioned in 1943 to train British & Canadian Pilots. Each room is individually designed using different wall coverings, window treatments, plush carpeting, ceramic tile, museum prints, fine furniture representing the Federal period, silk or real floral arrangements, & plants. The captain in addition served as a Brunswick Representative to the State Legislature. This outstanding Federal Style home was built for Captain Daniel Stone & his family in 1819. All rooms & suites offer been tastefully decorated in keeping w/ the Federal Style of the original Stone Family Home. Each room has its own private bathroom, several offer whirlpool tubs, color cable T.V w/ video cassette player, full length mirror, table or desk.

On Water St off of Main St in Brunswick towards on Ramp to Rte 1 North. -- Directions -- Take 95 South at Exit 103, the Gardiner exchange, Watch signs carefully and continue on I-95 South, do not get onto the Maine turnpike. An easy mistake if you do not watch the signs closely. Follow I-95 South to Exit 31A, Topsham. At the top of the exit ramp, turn right onto Route 196. Follow to the fourth traffic light, there will be a Toyota dealership ahead on your right. Turn right at this traffic light onto Route 201, Main street, Topsham.
