And the Legion Lake Dining Room & Store provide visitors w/ the best in deli, bakery & burgers in casual lakeside setting. You can rent a variety of watercraft, from paddle boats to hydrobikes. When youve had your fill of water activities, rent a mountain bike & begin exploring the forest. Its a choice spot for summer picnics, lazy days at the beach & adventurous treks into the wilderness. Fishing, boating & swimming are at your fingertips, when you visit at Legion Lake. This laid-back lodge sits directly on the waters edge. The lake is named for the American Legion Post that once leased this land. For hikers, We recommend the Badger Clark Historic Trail. The Centennial Trail is right out the back door. Badger Clark found this area behind his home particularly inspirational.

Located in Custer State Park, in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Near Mount Rushmore National Monument, historic Deadwood, and many more area attractions. Located along Galena Creek, Legion Lake Lodge dates back to 1913 when Custer State Park was a game preserve in the Custer State Forest. At that time, the area was leased by the local American Legion post, and thus the basis for the lodges name. Mirroring the ponderosa pines and sheer rock walls, Legion Lake offers wonderful photo opportunities. It is a natural water stop for the Parks wildlife. Cottages are nestled in the pines at this lake lodge.
